Human Resources Generalist

Supervisor's Title: Managing Director, Human Resources

Grade: 20

FLSA Status: Exempt

Job Summary:

Recruits, researches, interviews, screens and refers job candidates for job openings.  Maintains personnel files and database.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Confers with management and supervisors to identify personnel needs, job specifications, job duties, qualifications, and skills process so that positions may be filled as quickly as possible and with the best possible candidate.
  • Reviews and edits job descriptions written by others.
  • Develops and maintains network of contacts to help identify and source qualified candidates.
  • Initiates contact with possibly qualified candidates for specific job openings.
  • Reviews applications and interviews applicants to obtain work history, education, training, job skills, and salary requirements, and to provide information about the organization and position.
  • Screens and refers candidates for additional interviews with others in organization.
  • Writes and places job advertising in various media.
  • Coordinates participation in, sets up display, and works at job fairs.
  • Develops and maintains contacts with schools, alumni groups, and other public organizations to find and attract applicants.
  • Utilizes internet online recruiting sources to identify and recruit candidates.
  • Provides information on company facilities and job opportunities to potential applicants.
  • Performs reference and background checks on applicants.
  • Extends all offers of employment.
  • Controls replacement/addition authority on all job postings.
  • Notifies those who did not receive a position.
  • Files and maintains employment records for future references.
  • Maintains employee personnel files.
  • Enters and maintains personnel database and payroll information. (Oracle and ADP)
  • Performs new hire orientations and onboarding process.
  • Any other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of related experience or equivalent.
  • HR certification preferred: PHR or SPHR.
  • Must be detail oriented and able to multi-task.
  • Requires strong problem-solving skills
  • Must exhibit strong customer service skills.
  • Requires strong organizational skills.
  • Must be a self-starter and take initiative.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Requires knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must be a team player and enthusiastic.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills.

Working Environment:

  • An office environment. May require some travel.
